SFTU operates a first come first serve drop-in tenants rights clinic. Check the website for counseling hours or call 415-282-6622 (make sure to check the day of your planned visit as hours are subject to change).

Cost: The Tenants Union is a membership and donation supported organization, nonmembers are asked to donate when they come in (although no one is turned away for lack of funds).

Notes: There are several types of claims that a tenant may assert against his or her landlord by filing a Tenant Petition at the Rent Board.
These include:
Failure to Repair and Maintain;
Unlawful Rent Increase or Request for Determination of Lawful Rent;
Improper Utility Passthrough;
Improper Water Revenue Bond Passthrough;
Improper General Obligation Bond Measure Passthrough;
Failure to Discontinue a Capital Improvement Passthrough;
